F110: Large and superbly carved French/Napoleon fruitwood bust chess set.
Light side represents Napolean and his court, dark side (stained wood) is the earlier Henry IV (1553-1609) and his court. Kings 14.5cms tall, pawns 10cms.
This unique set was completely hand carved and took several months to complete by DK (kings signed under the bases) each piece has a sculptural quality.
The bishops on the Napoleon side depict his generals Lannes and Guillaume.
The bishops on the Henry IV are two famous members of his court Baron de Rosny and Gaspard II de Coligny.
