B54: Important early 17th century Augsburg boxboard

German Augsburg games-box, early 17th century and probably from the workshop of Ulrich Baumgartner (1580 - 1652).
The inlay and penwork decoration is very fine - has chessboard on the front, backgammon board inside and merels board on the back.
The board includes exotic woods on the dark backgammon obelisks and board surrounds. Closed 33x33x5cms
